Board Audit Committee: Committee to monitor both internal and external auditing.
Board Joint Issues Committee Members: The Joint Issues Committee consists of two representatives from the Board of Investments, Teachers' Retirement Board, and the Public Employees' Retirement Board. The purpose of this committee is to meet at least annually to coordinate and understand the needs and challenges of each board. This committee will be the conduit for working together, sharing information, and processing ideas.
Board Legislative Committee: Initially monitors bills impacting the retirement plans, and reports to the full board its recommendations.
Board Personnel Committee: Handles the Executive Director's review and any personnel contracts.
Board Policy Committee: Reviews current Board policies and drafts new ones as needed.
Employee Investment Advisory Council: Composed of 13 employee representatives of the PERS or the State of Montana deferred compensation. Members are appointed for staggered three-year terms. The EIAC meets four times per year.
457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan Financial Hardship Committee: Determines whether someone meets the IRS criteria for charitable withdrawal of 457(b) funds. *This is a closed meeting*
State Administration & Veterans' Affairs Interim Committee (SAVA): A joint bipartisan committee of the legislature that meets between legislative sessions to monitor the activities of the Department of Administration, the Department of Military Affairs, the Office of the Secretary of State, the Office of the Commissioner of Political Practices, and attached entities. It examines policy issues that include public employee retirement systems and makes recommendations to the full legislature on topics within the Committee's purview.
