Filing Your PERS Retirement Plan Election
You have 12 months from your date of hire - as reported to the Montana
Public Employee Retirement Administration (MPERA) by your employer - to file your PERS
retirement plan election with the MPERA.
Filing your retirement plan election with the MPERA means:
Your retirement plan election is irrevocable. If you do not file a retirement plan election by the end of your 12-month election window, by statute you will "default" to the PERS Defined Benefit Retirement Plan.
We strongly encourage you to make an actual election. This will ensure you are in the retirement plan you have determined best meets your personal and individual needs.
Filing your retirement plan election with the MPERA means:
- You complete and sign the appropriate PERS Retirement Plan Election Form below: AND
- You directly mail or hand deliver your completed election form before the end of your
12-month election window to:
