June 2018 Benefit Issuance Error

June 29, 2018

Due to an unintentional processing error, some retirees may not receive their June 2018 retirement benefit payments on the last working day of the month, as they’ve come to expect from MPERA.

Benefit payments made through electronic fund transfer (also known as direct deposit) were distributed to financial institutions on Friday, June 29—the last working day of the month.  Those funds, which are normally available to retirees on the same day they are issued, may not be available until Saturday, June 30 (or, in some cases, Monday, July 2) because MPERA mistakenly provided the payment date as June 30 rather than June 29.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this payment delay may cause to those retirees who receive their retirement benefits electronically.

Benefit payments made by paper checks were mailed on Friday, June 29, and should be delivered to retirees with no expected delay.

Thank you for your patience as we resolve this issue. More information will be here as it becomes available.
