Returning to a PERS-Covered Position
You will be eligible to elect a new plan choice within one year of rehire if you have:
- not been employed in a PERS-covered position for at least 24 months; and
- you refunded your Defined Benefit (DB) plan, Defined Contribution (DC) plan, or Montana University System Retirement program (MUS-RP) when you initially left your PERS-covered position.
If you return to PERS-covered employment in less than 24 months after terminating your elected membership in the DB, DC, or MUS-RP, you are not eligible for a new plan choice election. You will automatically be reenrolled in your original plan choice.
To learn more about your plan membership election options, visit Mont. Code Ann § 19-3-2111 or Mont. Code Ann § 19-3-2112.
